I'm not talking about camping out to catch Black Friday sales (did anyone actually get the $99 Wii bundle?) or fighting the crowds at the mall while shopping for endless presents.
I'm not talking about decking your halls with boughs of multi-colored lights and gawdy reindeer. The Griswolds have that niche all tied up.
I'm asking if your heart is ready for Christmas.
We all get a little caught up in holiday fervor, don't we? It's nearly impossible not to, since it seems like stores start piping holiday tunes around Memorial Day. Ok, ok. Labor Day.
I push back against all of that. I have a firm rule in my house that Carols are not allowed until December 1st and holiday decorations are verbotten before Black Friday. I go out of my way to avoid stores that might break my rule. Apparently, Walmart hasn't received my moratorium memo yet.
Preparing for Christmas is more than the passage of time or the flipping of a mental "I'm ready for the barrage of all that is Santa" swtich, however.

Are you ready for Christmas?
I recently had the privilige of editing and formating for publication a tome called "Advent Meditations" from author, naturopathic doctor and ordained Methodist minister Mark Fredericksen. Through 29 days of Advent, Mark offers up verses from Isaiah, thoughts to ponder and unique prayers to prepare hearts for the Season of Christ.
I highly recommend Advent Meditations to get ready for Christmas this year. It's available as an eBook and in print - the print version also includes space to journal your thoughts and reactions.
From our family to yours, we wish you the blessings of the Christmas season.
Anne
[Disclosure: I am related to Mark by marriage.]
