Trying Something New

I'll admit it. I'm an old fuddy-duddy. A change-o-phobe. Stuck in my ways. Reluctant to try new things.

Except when I'm not.

In "real" life, I'm a certified HR professional and project manager and have a Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt. So that means I love managing change, right?

Except when I don't.

Someone might want to cue Green Day's "Walking Contradiction" now.

I love social media. As a toddler mom who works from home, I don't currently have a huge social life outside of my home. Social media platforms give me the ability to interact from my couch, with thousands of people daily. I belonged to SixDegrees back in the day. (If you don't know what that is, well, I guess I'm old.) I was a MySpace early joiner, but I resisted Facebook for awhile. I jumped on the Twitter bandwagon early on but held out on Pinterest until it sucked me in. Even though I'm a constant reader, I failed to join GoodReads until just a few months ago, because I worried I'd spend more time reading there than reading books.

But now I'm "fully" connected - or so I thought. (Well, okay. I've let MySpace go by the wayside.) I Facebook, I Tweet, I pin and I'm (fairly) active on GoodReads.

And then I heard of Triberr.

Oh, Lord. Another social media site to join? No thanks - I already spend too many hours on the ones I belong to currently. I've got books to write here, people.

I decided to try to learn more about the service. So I put a question about it's use out on Twitter - I trust my Tweeple not to lead me astray.

And the founder of Triberr himself responded. Imagine that - and color me impressed.

I followed a few links, peeked around...and signed up.

So now I'm on Triberr. But I have no Tribes - yet! (Insert whimpering sound here.)

I lit a bonfire (is that the lingo) and posted about myself in the "looking for tribes" section. And now I'm posting here - anyone out there belong to a Tribe of Indie authors looking to support each other? If so, may I join?

What are your thoughts on Triberr? Are you there? Avoiding it? Have no clue what I'm talking about?

As with all new sites I join, I'm going to give myself to acclimate and learn. And then, I'm fairly sure, I'll be sucked in!
